We had so much fun with Josh from the Vernian Process, that we decided to do it again!

Music Appreciation will take place the first and third Sunday of the month at the New Champagne Rooms in Babbage Square
at 8pm SLT. This week we have a fantastic DJ and music aficionado. TalisDro Molinari will be playing his views of steampunk music... which, knowing him, will likely take a dark and moody bend. And as always, the delightful Miss Gabrielle Riel will be broadcasting Music Appreciation night over Radio Riel Steampunk for your listening pleasure.

Come on down, pull up a cushion or put on your dancing shoes and let's share and enjoy some fantastic music as we wind up a busy weekend.

And remember... if you'd like to host a Music Appreciation night, please contact Ahnyanka Delphin for more information!

The Tale of the Cloud Angel

Friday evening, Galactic Baroque and I were chatting, and eventually he expressed a wish for Beq Janus to join us to recall the strange events leading up to, and possibly explaining the mysterious details and events surrounding New Babbage's Cloud Angel. One by one, other Babbagers joined us and were caught up in Beq's compelling tale. A couple of fascinating hours passed quickly, in excellent company. I may not sleep well tonight for the nightmares that will surely come from this horrific saga, so very well told by Miss Janus this eve.

More pictures... come see who wandered in and stayed to listen.

Food and Flower Fun!

Gumi Yao has been playing with her food again! If you'd like to play with YOUR food too, Gumi's builder's kits can help you make whipped cream, and cakes and even twisty-wrapped candies. Recently I mentioned her strawberries and how tasty they looked. You'll find these sweets at Gumi's Flower Shope

Now, as fun as it is to create and play with such sweet treats... can that compare to picking fresh fruit playfully off of a pretty lady? Or picking roses? Or what about the possibilities of whipped cream?

These are very special sets, to be shared with very special people.
The outfits are made up of top parts and bottom parts. If you or someone touches a prim in the set, that prim will disappear. Some may be a little tricky to touch, but that just adds to the fun and challenge. Once a prim disappears, it will never ever reappear! You'll get three sets per purchase though, so you can enjoy being a sweet treat or bouquet of flowers for your special someone three times.

Slightly scandalous pictures under the cut! )

I'm excited to announce that this Sunday at 8pm SLT Joshua Pfeiffer, founding member of the Vernian Process, is going to be at the New Champagne Rooms in New Babbage to share his views on "Music of the Steamy Sort". Not only is he known for his work as Vernian Process, but in 2008 he helped found a new artists collective dedicated to Old World inspired music called Gilded Age Records. If you'd like to find out more, please feel free to read their bio!

With all of life's stresses, it's important to take some time to just relax... so please feel free to come and join us as we sit around and listen to music from various artists and get to know each other better! Hope to see you there!

We're getting ready for an evening of lounging, dancing, and talking about music with Josh of Vernian Process next Sunday night at 8pm slt (join us!) Tonight was 'figure out the music streams' night, with much giggling. Good times with good friends.

June 13, 2009 - Ceejay Writer standing in her cafe, testing out a costume for the "1001 Arabian Nights" event at New Babbage's New Champagne Rooms. PJ Trenton caught a photo of her and then worked magic with it. I swear, PJ's talent is beyond awe.

The event was fantastic, too! A very magical night. :)

1001 Nights at the New Champagne Rooms

Burlesque
To celebrate the end of the plumbing disaster at our New Babbage venue last month, please come and join us at the freshly refurbished New Champagne Rooms in Babbage Square this Sunday, June 14th, at 1pm SLT! We will take a trip into the desert for our themed performance this month I'm ever so tired of water. Drawing inspiration from the "newly" translated works titled The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night, the lovely Champagne Ladies (with a very special guest) will be using movement and sound to entertain. We hope to see you there!

We've sent a friendly camel along to carry you in style to the show. Oh look, here he is now!

At the New Champagne Rooms we work hard for you to create an atmosphere of grace and elegance. Enjoy real entertainment with a lot of class and just the right amount of sass! We have the most stunning ladies working and dancing for us in a true Burlesque style.

The New Champagne Rooms doesn't feature private rooms, massages or lapdances. You won't be accosted to tip for girls to remove clothing! Your job is just to come, sit, and have fun with our witty, exciting and friendly ladies.

The Primgraph - Issue Six Now Available

  • Jun. 7th, 2009 at 6:20 PM
Airship Pirate
Issue 6 of The Primgraph is out now – and it’s our most steampunk issue ever!

We’re visiting the region of New Babbage, a collection of seven (soon to be eight) grimy, sooty, exciting areas, dominated by tall smoking chimneys and narrow brickwork alleyways, with canals and harbours that offer as rich and as vivid a life beneath the waves as they do above it.

Through the writings of Miss Ceejay Writer, Miss Elegia Underwood and Sir Edward Pearse, Duke of Argylle, you’ll encounter mad scientists and disreputable urchins – and a fair mix of respectable folk going about their everyday business of invention, adventure, and making sure the clocks run on time – particularly important in a place that owes so much to steam and clockwork.

The Wonderful World Of Viv

Here is a multiple choice quiz: Viv Trafalgar is:

a) A talented clothing designer
b) A creator of marvelous builds
c) A shrewd scripter
d) A community encourager and supporter
e) A writer and aetheric engineer (webmaster in mundane terms)
f) An intelligent woman of Proper Salon Society
g) A silly, funny friend
h) All of the above

The correct answer is, of course, H. Viv is indeed a talented clothing designer... but what good is clothing without a community to dress up for? The Steampunk and Victorian communities of Second Life have greatly benefited from Viv's creativity and generosity, in so many ways! I am lucky enough to be one of those she's taken under her wing. Let me count the ways. I, along with Ahnyanka Delphin were privileged to be invited to speak on the topic of Burlesque at one of the monthly Aether Salons organized by Viv and and fellow Salonista Serafina Puchkina. Viv has also been a patient teacher as I learn the art of building, encouraging me with lessons, laughter and a great deal of patience. We share a Hello Kitty bond that cannot be explained. Viv has a knack for committing random acts of hilarity in my IM window just when I am at my most frustrated. She's recently joined the staff of the Primgraph magazine, which makes us co-workers! She is not one to toot her own horn enough, and so I've stolen her horn and want to give a few trumpet blasts on it.

Toot! Toot! Toot! If you knew Vivvie, like I know Vivvie... )

The New Champagne Rooms "Shimmy For A Cure" weekend event was great fun, and very successful! Our wonderful, generous guests opened their hearts and wallets... Relay For Life gained $34,000 lindens during the course of the evening. Those of you that attended, thank you so, so much!

If you weren't able to attend but wish to help out this highly deserving cause, I've got a RFL donation kiosk up at the CocoaJava Cafe, or if you'd rather donate in First-Life-Funds, I'm a member of the New Babbage team, and here is the link to my personal donation page. I've nearly met my goal! And you know what? When I do meet it, I'll.... raise the goal! I'm not ready to give up yet. Are you?

Friday Night Dancing and Intrigue

The Friday night show at the New Champagne Rooms was a bit frantic, but heaps of fun! We have the best audiences ever. Dancing for our patrons is as much fun as watching a show, at least I hope so! After the show, I found myself back in New Babbage, sipping a drink at Loki's Absinthe, with... ah, but I shouldn't say. But we talked about... oh, that was in confidence. It was a night I shall not soon forget, for many reasons, such as... oh, goodness, I can't tell you THAT!

Saturday Morning Breakfast in Babbage

Saturday morning, the sleepy townsfolk of New Babbage crawled out of bed rather early and staggered down to Bolyai Plaza for our Clockwinder's second Rezzday. We spent a few hours dressed in silly outfits, eating cereal, and listening to some super-fun music courtesy our DJ Edward Pearse, Duke of Argylle. "Saturday morning cartoons for the ears", indeed! Check out Sir Edward's pictures and the playlist!

In the fray of the day, I didn't get a chance to thank Elina for this link to a certain mahvelous cartoon in her website which right now, to the dismay of anyone in sight of my monitor, is my wallpaper. Holmes, Watson, Crossdressing and Hello Kitty? Yes. All relevant to the Breakfast Rezzday!.

Shimmy For A Cure

I managed to get a new burlesque act written in time for our Relay For Life charity evening, and wow did we have some fun! The audience was wonderful (I do so love it when I'm dancing and get a LOT of response and feedback from the crowd!) We raised a lot of lindens to help fight cancer, and had a great time doing so.

Bonus Random Item: Sweet CHUG-CHUG-CHUG Georgia CHUG-CHUG-CHUG Brown

Doctor Obolensky shares three guitars accompanied by a tractor, which the Doc describes as "An ancient Swedish farm worker lays down the industrial beat..." If you aren't happy before playing this, you'll be happy afterwards.

As a special fundraiser for Relay For Life, the Champagne Ladies will be on stage May 31st at 1pm SLT to tease and tantalize with class and just a touch of sass! And as a special treat, the vivacious Miss Vivienne Dufaux from the Original Moulin Rouge will be there to spin music as well!

All proceeds will go to support Relay for Life as we aim to find a cure for cancer and support the lives and families affected by the disease.

Yum! Strawberries!

  • May. 26th, 2009 at 11:25 AM

In RL, the woman on the other side of this monitor just finished planting her veggie garden. In the back of her garden are raspberry canes and a strawberry patch. A lot of work is still ahead, weeding out those strawberries, and herding them in (they like to leap across the boundaries and grow where they like!)

In SL, gardening is a lot easier and completely weed free, unless you like weeds, that is. My favorite virtual gardener is Gumi Yao, and she has just finished cultivating some wonderful strawberries. These are beautifully detailed. They are plump, ripe and look absolutely delicious. Gumi tells me she does not have a green thumb in RL, but she tends a wonderful SL garden!

Take a wander over to Gumi's Flower Shop, where you will find plants, cut flowers, vases, candles, gift boxes, and full perm items for builders. Every item is made with careful attention to detail, and as low-prim as can be accomplished.

More delicious strawberries behind the cut! )

Make New Friends But Keep The Old

... one is silver and the other gold.

Last weekend, I took a bit of time from an overwhelming to-do list to relaxing at my CocoaJava Cafe with Clockwinder Tenk, Beq Janus and new friend Tinus Koskinen. I'm really liking the pillows-on-the-floor arrangement lately. It creates a relaxed setting to just talk, which is the primary reason I built this cafe. I wanted a no-pressure setting for people to wander through, stay a while, wander off... no hype, no agenda, no Best-In-Wing contests (ugh), just rest and conversation.

As often happens when a few folk gather, Green Dot Syndrome had an effect, and much to my delight, Jer Hawksby dropped by. He's an old friend from lands beyond the Grid, and though I knew he was learning his way in SL, I had not yet met this good friend's avatar.

I can't tell you how much it warmed my heart to see Jer so warmly accepted by some of my favorite Babbagers. It was great to get better acquainted with my new friend, Tinus Koskinen as well.

Eventually, one by one, everyone wandered back to their tasks, and I hope they felt rested and happy for their respite at the Cafe. If so, it's reason for existing has been fulfilled.

Nearly Time To Belly Up!

Since May 4th was an ETERNITY ago in Internet Time, I wanted to remind everyone of our special event at the New Champagne Rooms in Babbage Square

"BELLY UP!"

Here's my original announcement with a wee bit of backstory and purty pictures. You know you want to click.

But, as they say on late night infomercials..... BUT WAIT, THERE's MORE! Since I posted that original announcement, our friend and sometimes-conspirator AnnaMaria Isabella has joined us in planning this event! She says... "Looking forward to the show tomorrow! Who would have thought that faulty plumbing could be this much fun? We have lots of special treats in store for all the guests. Mermaid martinis and shrimp cocktails for the grownups and mint kelp shakes and peanutbutter & jelly(fish) sandwiches for the urchins! And as a special thank you there will be souvenir mermaid dolls and shoulder squids available after the show.

Saturday, 11am SLT! New Babbage is truly the only logical place to be! I'll see you at the show!

A while ago, Ahnyanka Delphin, owner of the New Champagne Rooms vaudeville club in Babbage Square discovered a small leak. It's a new building, and apparently the plumbing has some quirks. Here's Ahnya contemplating a puddle on the carpeting.

It's just a bit of water, though. Ahnya's a great builder and I was sure she would have the leak repaired in no time. What could possibly go wrong? Well...

The 2nd anniversary issue of Prim Perfect is out! Reading it via the Calameo.com site is my recommendation, as it gives you the full magazine experience, right down to the crispy sound of turning the pages. It's right here: Prim Perfect Issue Issue #17

The whole issue is well worth reading cover to cover, but if you're in a hurry, here are my article contributions. *grin*

Page 24: Home Expo 2009 (though I should mention that I only collected some of that info, I believe one of the other staff writers polished up and completed the article)

Page 53: Country Living in Neufreistadt

Page 62: An Interview with Leyla Firefly, Builder and Second Life Romantic (my favorite article, please read it!)

Page 68: Special Feature: Five Sims Filled with Love and Creativity

Page 114: Advice for Newcomers: Controlling your Inventory, Notecards and Landmarks

Also, as part of the second year anniversary festivities, the entire staff is featured in "Looking Back: Two Years of Prim Perfect". Ceejay's wee bit is on page 107 in that article!

Whew. No wonder April felt like such a busy month! *flops*

With the kind assistance of Maceholder Cleanslate, #2 Dude of New Babbage, I'm finally getting some instructional/motivational/disturbing signage up at my property. I wrote the words - he created the signs in that style of his that I know and love so well!

I do have two more signs to hang up, but I need to finish a notecard to imbed in one, and figure out some logistics on the other. It feels good to get this step done, and inject yet a bit more whimsically disturbing insane-cheerfulness into New Babbage. Now stop reading and go enjoy a delicious chocolate truffle!
